Renewable & off-grid energy solutions

Steel Frames specialises in the supply, delivery and installation of renewable energy systems – so property owners consume more sustainably, efficiently and responsibly.

Renewable Energy

It’s the future. And finding more sustainable ways to heat, power and water our buildings is vital before we run out of options.

We specialise in the supply, delivery and installation of renewable energy systems – so property owners consume more sustainably, efficiently and responsibly.

Ranging from hybrid solutions that work alongside the ‘grid’ to fully self-sufficient operations, Steel Frames gives end-users more power over their means of energy consumption.

Off-grid living energy

For some, renewable energy isn’t a future concept. It’s their present situation – and they need a solution now.

When living in an isolated location, disconnected from the ‘mains’, buildings need to be self-reliant when it comes to generating heat, electricity and using both clean water and dirty water systems.

Steel Frames offers a range of energy systems for off-grid living. With a central purpose of initially reducing an occupier’s needs for energy generation, we promise minimal impact on the environment – and demonstrate how innovation in energy harvesting can provide long-lasting energy supply, without the need for traditional ‘connected’ methods.

Our cost-effective systems that safeguard the environment

Often renewable energy solutions and off-grid energy solutions work hand-in-hand because their purposes align.

Renewable energy solutions are about reducing the need for energy from traditional non-renewable sources – usually from the ‘main’ grid. This is often more cost-effective in the long-run as well as having obvious environmental benefits.

Off-grid energy solutions are out of necessity – and must be fully self-sufficient without any reliance on the ‘grid’.

However, the outcomes are the same – substantial cost savings in the future and unnegotiable safeguarding of our planet.

Also known as photovoltaics (PV), solar panels absorb the sun’s energy – and turn it into electricity to use within your building.

Benefits
  • Wide and varying specifications for different applications
  • Low maintenance costs
  • Continuous technological updates for better energy-efficiency
  • Quick to install
  • Minimum carbon footprint
  • Long-lasting with an expected lifespan of 30 years

Using the power of solar panels, we can connect even the remotest homes to an internet and telephone signal.

Benefits
  • High-speed internet to connect you as normal
  • Low maintenance costs
  • Continuous technological updates for better internet and telephone service
  • Quick to install
  • Minimum carbon footprint
  • Long-lasting with an expected lifespan of 30 years

Connecting with roofs, car parks, driveways and other areas where rainwater gathers, our rainwater harvesting systems collect rainwater on a premise – and divert it into a water storage area such as a storage tank, borehole or well.

The occupier then has access to excess run-off water to complete a range of domestic and commercial tasks. From watering the garden to providing for livestock, rainwater can be even used for everyday applications – like washing machines.

Depending on the size of the system and its adaptation, you can reduce or remove the need to connect to a mains water supply.

Benefits
  • Avoids heavy usage of water meter
  • Reduces water bills
  • Minimises flooding & erosion
  • Environmentally-friendly
  • Easy to maintain

To meet the strict standards for drinking (potable) and bathing water in the UK, properties predominantly off-grid will need to purify their water supply – when not connected to the ‘mains’.

Our rainwater UV systems firstly remove all larger sediments and particles. Then, light rays treat the water – as the UV (or Ultra-Violet) radiation is powerful enough to disinfect water and eliminate bacteria, viruses and microorganisms that are harmful to humans.

These systems ensure maximum water safety – and hold WRAS approval.

Benefits
  • Avoids heavy usage of water meter
  • Reduces water bills
  • Environmentally-friendly
  • Easy to maintain
  • Maintains health and safety standards

More than a decorative instalment, a wood burning stove can be a vital part of your central heating system.

Our systems work so you can heat the whole property – not just one room.  Ideal for off-grid properties without access to mains gas, we have a range of options to suit small to large properties.

Benefits
  • Long-term cost savings
  • Reduce need for ordering gas canisters to power central heating
  • Minimise carbon footprint by using less gas

With automatic capabilities to switch on and off, a pellet stove is a modern solution that works the same as any boiler system – without the need for a mains gas board connection.

Benefits
  • Thermostat technology so occupiers can ‘sit back and relax’
  • Hot water on-demand
  • Energy efficient with automated controls

Store heat and use it over time with a thermal store. As the heart of your off-grid heat energy system, the occupier can have access to domestic hot water on-demand.

Depending on your requirements, you can choose a system that gives more heat to a room or more heat to generating hot water supply.

Benefits
  • Long-term cost savings
  • Energy efficient
  • Environmentally-friendly
  • Reduces need for gas canisters
  • Improves site’s health and safety

Off-grid properties need to process waste. A complete sewerage treatment plant system ensures an occupier can do this in a hygienic, safe and environmentally-friendly way. So much so, the property can obtain approval from the Environmental Agency.

Our plants are scaled-down versions of the ‘mains’ versions that cater to multiple dwellings. They handle and treat all waste and discharge from a single dwelling so water can safely reenter the water system – such as into a river or stream.

All in all, these systems remove the need for a cesspool. Currently banned in Scotland and France, cesspools are largely disfavoured in England and Wales due to their environmentally-destructive qualities. Not to mention, they are also expensive and inefficient.

Benefits
  • Reliable and unlikely to encounter problems
  • Easy to maintain
  • Cost-effective overtime
  • Environmentally-friendly
  • Meets government standards
  • Reduce health & safety concerns
